ADMISSIONS AT EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS ACADEMY

Thank you for your interest in Educational Pathways Academy! EPA is committed to accepting and serving students whose profiles align with our purpose as a school for students with learning disabilities.

Students at Educational Pathways Academy typically possess average to above-average intelligence, have struggled in school in various ways, and may or may not have a formal diagnosis (yet the hallmarks of a learning disability are present in data). Their profiles may include diagnostic labels such as a receptive/expressive language disorder, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, executive dysfunction, auditory processing disorder, attention deficit disorder, or some combination of these. Some students may even be considered twice exceptional.

Please note:  Educational Pathways Academy isn’t the right fit for every student. We are not a therapeutic school, and we do not have specialized programs primarily for behavioral/psychiatric, social/emotional diagnoses, autism, or intellectual disabilities (lower than average intelligence quotient.)

 

The Admissions Process

Educational Pathways Academy’s admissions process is a way for both EPA and families to determine if EPA would be an academic setting where their child would thrive.

STEP 1: Complete Student Information Form

The first step in our admissions process is to complete a Student Information Form

This is an opportunity for you to share information with us about your student. We are interested to hear about your child’s journey thus far including strengths, personality traits, social abilities, academic areas of struggle, and previous diagnoses. 

  • Please fill out and submit the Student Information Form below. Attach any diagnosis, evaluations, IEP, or 504 plan your child has received.

  • Even if your student has NOT YET been formally diagnosed with a learning disability, please continue to submit the form. Our administration will email you recommendations and guidance for diagnosis after we’ve reviewed your information.

  • Once submitted and reviewed, EPA’s Admission’s Director, Kelly Grimm will contact you via email to schedule a date/time for a Campus Tour.


STEP 2: Schedule Campus Tour & Meet Head of School

After review of your Student Information Form, EPA’s administration will determine if your student and family should attend a Campus Tour. Campus Tours take place at either our North Campus or South-Frey Campus. During this 1-hour visit, we explore the campus together followed by a meeting with our Founder & Head of School, Molly Arthur. During your tour and on-site meetings, we will share more about our academics and programming — and look forward to learning more about your child!

Tour RSVP’s are arranged by email invitation from Kelly Grimm. 

STEP 3: Shadow Day 

Following a Campus Tour, a Shadow Day will be scheduled for your student.

During a Shadow Day, your child will have the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a student at EPA. They will be paired with an EPA student around their age and will accompany them throughout the day. Your child will attend classes with their peers, meet teachers, and enjoy recess and lunch on campus. They will also receive placement tests for math and reading. 

STEP 4: Apply for Admissions

As your student’s Shadow Day approaches, you will receive an email with a link to our online admissions application as well as scholarship information. 

  • The admissions application requires a $100 non-refundable fee.

  • Create an online account with TADS to complete this application.

Financial Aid: EPA accepts the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC), Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO), and Family Empowerment Scholarship for students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA).

Tuition discounts are also available at EPA for families who meet qualifying factors such as household income. Applications are available through TADS.

STEP 5: Admissions Application Review
Once all application materials are received and a successful Shadow Day has been completed, EPA’s Admissions Committee will review your application. You will be notified by Admissions of your child’s acceptance status.

Selection for admissions is based on the child’s inherent capabilities and ability to benefit from the educational programs at Educational Pathways Academy, as well as space availability in the program.

Waitlist: If there is no availability in our program, your student will be placed on our waitlist. You will be notified if or when an opening becomes available.

STEP 6: Complete Enrollment Application

Upon acceptance to EPA, you will receive email instructions for completing the enrollment process through TADS.

Enrollment Requirements:

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

  • A Florida Certificate of Immunization (Form 680)

  • Health Exam completed no less than 12 months prior to the child's school entry date.

  • $350 non-refundable enrollment application fee
